Melanotan II Injection
Melanotan II is a synthetic melanocortin peptide originally researched for its role in skin
pigmentation pathways. By activating melanocortin receptors throughout the body, it has also been studied for pathways involved in arousal, appetite regulation, energy balance,
inflammatory signaling, and broader neuroendocrine function.

Frequently Asked Questions

Melanotan II is a synthetic melanocortin peptide studied for its role in pigmentation, arousal, appetite regulation, and metabolic signaling pathways. It works by activating melanocortin receptors throughout the body, including pathways involved in melanin production, desire and arousal signaling, appetite and satiety, inflammatory balance, and broader mind-body communication.
Melanotan II may be considered for individuals interested in physician-guided support for skin pigmentation pathways, desire and arousal signaling, appetite regulation, and broader melanocortin pathway activity.
This therapy is not appropriate for everyone. Eligibility is determined by a licensed provider based on medical history, skin health, medication use, cancer risk, cardiovascular history, and individual treatment goals.
Disclaimer: This information reflects findings from early human, preclinical, and mechanistic research. Clinical safety and efficacy have not been established in large-scale human trials.
Each order includes two 5mL vials of Melanotan II. Dosing is determined by your licensed provider based on your individual health profile and treatment goals. Based on typical prescribing patterns, this supply is designed to last approximately 8 weeks, with a 4-week break before continuing the cycle. Please follow the dosing instructions provided by your healthcare provider to ensure safe and appropriate use.
The medication should be refrigerated immediately after arrival to maintain quality. The medication should be stored at 2-8°C (36-46°F). Please keep the vial away from sunlight and avoid shaking it.
Melanotan II has limited long-term human safety data, and individual responses may vary. Some reported or potential side effects include nausea, facial flushing, decreased appetite, headache, fatigue or drowsiness, yawning/stretching, injection-site irritation, and changes in arousal or spontaneous erections. Because Melanotan II affects pigmentation pathways, it may darken existing freckles or moles and may be associated with new or changing pigmented spots. Patients should monitor their skin regularly and seek dermatology evaluation for any new, changing, or concerning lesions.
Rare but serious events have been reported, including prolonged erections/priapism, systemic reactions, neurological symptoms, kidney-related complications, and melanoma or concerning skin changes. Seek urgent care for severe allergic reactions, chest pain, shortness of breath, priapism lasting more than 4 hours, severe neurological symptoms, or rapidly worsening symptoms.
Melanotan II does not replace sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn, photoaging, or skin cancer. Sun-safe practices are still required.
Disclaimer: This list is not comprehensive. Because Melanotan II has limited long-term human safety data, other side effects or risks may occur. Contact your provider if you experience any unexpected, persistent, or worsening symptoms.
The initial phase is used at the start of treatment to help support the body’s early pigmentation response. After this phase, most patients transition to a maintenance schedule, which uses less frequent dosing to help maintain the desired effect. Repeat users or patients who have already achieved their desired pigmentation response may be directed by their provider to follow the maintenance schedule rather than restarting the initial phase.
Melanotan II works through pigmentation pathways involved in melanin production. Brief, controlled sun exposure may help support a visible tanning response for some individuals when used as directed by a provider. If included in your protocol, sun exposure should generally be limited to 10–20 minutes after dosing and adjusted based on your skin type, UV index, and provider guidance.
Melanotan II does not replace sunscreen or protect against sunburn, UV damage, photoaging, or skin cancer. Sun-safe practices are still required.
Melanotan II may affect skin pigmentation, including freckles, moles, and other pigmented areas. We recommend staying aware of any new or changing spots and keeping up with routine skin checks through your dermatologist or primary care provider. If you notice a new mole, a changing mole, or any concerning skin change, you should contact a healthcare provider for evaluation.
Yes. Even though your prescription is reviewed by a licensed provider, it is important to keep your primary care provider and/or dermatologist informed that you are using Melanotan II Injection. Your regular healthcare providers have a broader understanding of your medical history and can help support coordinated care, routine skin checks, and ongoing monitoring while you are using this therapy.
